This should be the thickest running shoes that you have met.
The thickest insole of HOKA ONE ONE Bondi 6 reaches to 33mm. Except the attractive buffer performance, it also gives the extra experience of height increasing, which is most of other buffering running sneakers don’t have.
As a pair of running shoes for road, its buffer performance attracts me. But after wearing about one month, I found that it has some advantages and some disadvantages. HOKA ONE ONE Bondi 6 indeed bring the buffer of running shoes to a new world.
Appearance: 8.6 scores
The running shoes of HOKA ONE ONE always have the differences with other running shoes. This pair of Bondi 6 has the thickest insole. Although it looks weird, but after wearing, it looks good. It owes to the vamp design of Bondi 6.
The vamp of Bondi 6 accord with modern aesthetic design. For the colorway, except the main color fluorescent green, it also has other four different colorway. So you can find the one that is suitable to you.
Comfort: 8.4 scores
For making up the support disadvantage of mesh fabric, Bondi 6 uses the Lycra rubber string, which improves the stiffiness of vamp to increase the support perforamnce of vamp. But I think the elasticity of vamp decimated after adding the Lycra rubber string.
The forefoot space of Bondi 6 is flat. So the activity space of toes is limited. Moreover, the design of heelpiece part can’t fix well the heelpiece. This is the part of Bondi 6 that I am dissatisfied at.
Beyond that, I am not sure whether if my foot it wide or the shoe shape of Bondi 6 is narrow, it pinches my toes.
Buffer: 9.3 scores
The buffer feeling is obvious when running.
Bondi 6 not only has the excellent buffer performance, but also has great resilient feedback.
Support: 8.0 scores
The support of mid forefoot is great after adding Lycra rubber string in the vamp. But the heelpiece part can’t be wrapped well.
For the insole design, Bondi 4 uses the supporting type design. It can achieve good supporting stability.
But the insole of Bondi 6 is too high. Even if it has supporting design, but it can’t avoid left and right waggle when jogging.
So for the supporting performance of Bondi 6, it needs to be adjusted in next generation.
Durability: 8.3 scores
This is the third time that we mention about the Lycra rubber string of Bondi 6 vamp. The Lycia rubber string increase the lifetime of vamp.
After about a month of testing, it rarely has the buckling trace on forefoot.
For the outsole, Bondi 6 uses Hi-Abrasion light rubber on partial region, so the wear-resistance is excellent. And the other parts without wear-resisting rubber is not the area of high friction. So the transient running won’t effect it.
Overall: 8.5 scores
HOKA ONE ONE Bondi 6 is a pair of running shoes with excellent buffer performance. The buffering feeling that it brings to is exigent of many jogging runners. But you need to pay attention on the stability of insole and the wrapping performance of heelpiece.
But if you don’t want much buffer, we won’t recommend this sneaker to you.
Finally, let’s make a summary for the advantages and disadvantages of Bondi 6:
